KONAMI has obtained the cooperation of Warner Home Video (WHV) to feature a premium video of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots (hereinafter MGS4) (PlayStation®3), which will be released on June 12th, in the special viewing disc of the rental DVD for I Am Legend. Giving fans of the Metal Gear series(*) a first-hand glance at MGS4 footage, the disc will include a video introducing the history of the Metal Gear and is also created in such a way that even users who are new to Metal Gear can get an idea of why the series is so popular. Many fans of the Metal Gear series use their PlayStations to view movies, and because I Am Legend is the first title for which large-scale rentals on blu-ray discs will be made possible, the same special viewing disc (DVD specifications) was also created without delay as a special benefit for rental blu-ray discs. The Metal Gear series is a game produced with an embedded message to society based on the theme of "Anti-war and Antinuclear." In MGS4, which is the final installment of the series, all the main characters will make an appearance and the parts that remained a mystery up to now shall be revealed. I Am Legend was released for nationwide viewing on December 14th, 2007 and this action blockbuster which was No. 1 for the New Year in 2008 recorded domestic box office sales of 4.5 billion yen. Rentals will begin at rental shops nationwide from April 24th. (*) Total world-wide sales of 22 million (as of December 2007)
