KONAMI's Metal Gear and Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty were entered in The Guinness World Records: Gamer's Edition 2008.

Metal Gear, which was released in 1987 and is the first installment in the Metal Gear series, was entered in The Guinness World Records: Gamer's Edition 2008 as the first video game to fully incorporate stealth elements, and Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, which was launched in 2001, was also entered as the top-selling stealth game for PlayStation 2.

The Metal Gear series celebrated its 20th anniversary last year. The series includes an anti-war and anti-nuclear message and is a full-scale stealth action game in which a main character completes missions while avoiding a fight. The series has sold more than 22 million copies worldwide, as of March 31, 2008.

The latest game in the series, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots (MGS4) was simultaneously released worldwide on Thursday, June 12, 2008.
