KONAMI held the finals for their METAL GEAR ONLINE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP 2008 to decide the best player of the online action game, METAL GEAR ONLINE at the Tokyo Game Show on October 11th. (Sat)

The Finalists from the preliminaries in North America, Europe, Asia, Korea and Japan gathered for heated one-on-one and group battles.

The player known as +RYU+, representing Japan won the one-on-one tournament and team RITA, also representing Japan, won the team competition to reign as the 1st World Champions.

One-on-one Champion Japan +RYU+ Team Champion Japan RITA

The champions were awarded trophies by the director of the Metal Gear series, Hideo Kojima. Kojima stated: "I'm very happy to have been able to help bring people together from all over the world through online play. I would like to continue expanding our world with everyone's help."

The competition was broadcast online worldwide.

  About METAL GEAR ONLINE
   

It is an online action game with the world-view and controls of METAL GEAR SOLID 4 GUNS OF THE PATRIOTS, and allows up to 16 players to battle. There are game features that are only available online, such as new systems allowing the player to improve coordination with teammates in original stage and on the battlefield.
