US major video gaming website, GameSpot, has named Konami's METAL GEAR SOLID 4 GUNS OF THE PATRIOTS (aka MGS4) the Game of the Year in its Best of 2008 roundup of winning titles.

MGS4 earned top honors in all eight categories it was nominated in, including "Best Action Adventure"; "Best Graphics, Technical"; and "Best PS3 Game".

MGS4, the newest title in the anti-war, anti-nuclear themed METAL GEAR action series, was released simultaneously around the world on June 12th, 2008.

MGS4 shipped three million units on the day of its release bringing total worldwide sales for the METAL GEAR series up to approximately 26.5^* million.
