To play Network and Legends Modes you require the following:

• PLAYSTATION®3
• PLAYSTATION®3 Version Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 (PES 2009)
• PLAYSTATION®3 Controller(s)
• Internet Connection (Broadband)

• Although PLAYSTATION®3 Version PES 2009 Online is free of charge, the network charge and internet provider charge necessary for an internet connection will be charged.

Also if the following PLAYSTATION®3 compatible equipment is connected you can chat with other users.

• USB Keyboard/Bluetooth Keyboard
• USB Microphone/Bluetooth Microphone

For the Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 service you must register a KONAMI ID and GAME ID.

• If you already have a GAME ID you can use it. If you only have a KONAMI ID you can use this service if you register a GAME ID corresponding with the KONAMI ID.

A KONAMI ID and GAME ID can be registered at the KONAMI ID portal website.
Select 'Register' in the game to visit the KONAMI ID portal website.
You can also register from your computer. (https://id.konami.net/quick/)

Both the KONAMI ID and GAME ID are required for Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 services.
Make sure you do not forget your ID and password as you may not be able to login.

Connect a LAN cable to the LAN terminal at the back of the PLAYSTATION®3.

For details on how to connect the LAN cable and how to connect the PLAYSTATION®3 to the internet, refer to the PLAYSTATION®3 instruction manual.

Internet connection methods may differ depending on the equipment you are using or your internet provider. For details on how to connect to the internet at home, refer to material sent by the provider.

• Check whether the PLAYSTATION®3 time settings are correct.
• Check whether the PLAYSTATION®3 system software version is the most up-to-date version.
• If you do not have a PLAYSTATION NETWORK account, refer to the PLAYSTATION®3 instruction manual and obtain one beforehand.

Insert the PES 2009 disc in the PLAYSTATION3 and start the game.

Push any button at the Title Screen.
Select Network at the Top Menu.

• You cannot proceed if you are not signed into the PLAYSTATION NETWORK. A verification screen will be displayed so sign in to proceed.

Terms of Use will be displayed so read over it and select 'I agree' to proceed.

Enter your GAME ID and GAME ID password to login.

Save Your Password

Select 'Save My Password' so you do not have to enter it the next time you login.

Login Automatically

Select 'Login Automatically' so you login automatically the next time you play.

Once you login and the notice screen has been shown, the server selection screen and lobby selection screen will be displayed. Select a lobby to proceed.

• Depending on traffic, you may have trouble connecting to the server.

Make sure you view the notice screen as important notices such as server maintenance schedules are posted.

• The notice screen may not be displayed sometimes.

For those of you playing PES 2009 for the first time, set a nickname (User name).

• You were shown how to login in Network Mode here but the same procedure is enabled in Legends Mode. For details please refer to Legends.
